Description

this iron gray holder made of papercrete - portmanteau of concrete and paper - a material first fashioned in 1928 and revived in the 80s. our reexploration of the slurry sees the use of re-pulped industrial paper waste from OFFCUT @allegro_print (Japan Good Design Award 2021), portland cement and bentonite clay cured over time to industrial strength. maintains an organic finish with light waterproof seal.

as accompaniment, 28 FSC cotton paper incense sticks soaked in rich fragrance extracts from the Alps are dehydrated over a week-long process for a mellow, lingering scent when left to smoulder.

each piece is individually mixed, poured and finished. variance in texture, grain and colour are celebrated and not considered defects.

papercrete will patina with age, a natural weathering process.
